Hey, Journey Fit Fam.
Let's talk about it. Motivation.
Motivation...... how do you keep it?
You know, Zig Ziglar Zig Ziglar once said, "People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily."
So, here's my question to you.
What happens after you lose the weight? You see, it's not about the weight loss as much as it's about the Journey.
The truth is, we don't just get to get our six pack and say, "Okay, that's it. I can go back to my old ways."
Maintenance is actually harder than the weight loss itself.
When you're losing weight, people come up to you and say, "Hey, you're looking good, are you losing weight?"
That's pretty motivating, right? You're getting compliments, people are noticing.
But what happens after you lose the weight?
Nobody comes up to you and says, "Hey, you're looking good, you're maintaining your weight!"
That just doesn't happen.
I want to give you 3 ways to maintain your motivation.
1. Protect your most important times.
What are your most important times? Right before you go to bed and first thing in the morning.
How do you finish your day? Do you finish your day scrolling through Facebook and looking at other people's problems? Do you close out your day by looking at email?
Or do you finish your day with a positive reading? Do you finish your day with writing down three amazing things that happened today?
How do start your day? Do you start your day by rolling over to grab your phone so you can scroll through Facebook, check your messages, e-mail, etc.?
That's very stressful.
Another Zig Ziglar quote said “It is your attitude, more than your aptitude, that will determine your altitude.”
Well, your gratitude will determine your attitude. Start your day writing down three things that you're grateful for.
That's number one, protect your most important times.
2. Become somebody else's "fitspiration."
See, once you've achieved success, you'll start searching to find more motivation.
You find more motivation when you find out that life is bigger than yourself.
There are people who have been watching you; people that you are not even aware of, that had their eyes on you.
They've watched your transformation and are now looking to you for "fitspiration."
So go ahead. Take someone under your wing and say, "Hey, come on, I've been where you're at and I know where you wanna go, so follow me."
Your motivation comes back.
Your motivation comes back, like an old boxer that has found a young boxer and is able to share their tricks and tools of the trade. All the things they've learned over the years to make a champion.
So my challenge to you is to be someone's "fitspiration." Make a champion.
3. Keep setting goals and keep making progress.
Just because you may have hit your original goal doesn't mean there shouldn't be another goal.
See, the closer we step toward our horizon, the bigger our horizon gets.
Maybe when you first came through our doors, you saw sign-ups for 5K's or Spartan Races and you thought to yourself, "I'll never do that."
Now you've got the weight off; now you're feeling good. Maybe you can do that.
Maybe that's your next goal.
So set a goal, make some progress, and watch the momentum create motivation.
Momentum leads to motivation.
When we can set a goal and begin to make progress, we feel that motivation start to kick in.
