Today I want to talk to you about my favorite topic. It's coaching.
I am a coach through and through.
I am a coach at heart.
Even as I get pulled away from coaching at times because of the different responsibilities that come with having multiple locations, I still make sure that there's some amount of coaching on my schedule.
I love to coach.
Let me ask you something. Do you know where that word comes from? The word "coach?"
It actually comes from the olden days when they had stagecoaches. The point of the stagecoach is to take you from where you're at to where you want to go, right?
That's what a good coach should do.
A good coach should help you to assess where you're at. We do this, at Journey, through medical screening. We do this through different types of assessments. We do it through a little goal setting conversation where we say, "Hey, what is it that you'd like to accomplish?"
And sometimes people don't know.
I want to talk to you about a word that makes everybody skeptical.
That word is supplements.
I don't blame you if you're skeptical when you hear this word, because supplements are not even regulated by the FDA. You really have to do your homework in order to understand if you can trust a supplement.
But here's the thing. There's really only four ways to help yourself get to your fitness goals.
There are many kinds of supplements out there. There's a pill for anything these days. Let's start with a couple that we'll both agree right away that are necessary.
At Journey333, we love celebrations.
Our favorite thing to celebrate? YOU!
We celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and especially important fitness milestone. Why so much celebrating?
Well, the answer is this… because we love you.
See, at Journey333, we call you our fit fam. That means you're part of the fitness family.
In fact, for a guy like me, I have a small family. You, as a member of Journey333, you've become my extended family.
So what does family do for one another? Well for one, they love one another. But they also celebrate one another.
They celebrate birthdays, they celebrate anniversaries, they celebrate important accomplishments. So that's the number one reason why we do it, because you're now part of a family.
The second reason we celebrate so much is because it's actually a pretty big factor in keeping you motivated. It's crucial to celebrate the small wins along the Journey toward your big goals.
If you don't take time along the way to look back at how...
You’re not alone…
More than 90% of New Year’s Resolutions end in failure.
Think about that: You have less than a 1 in 10 chance of success — a lottery ticket might be a safer investment than another resolution this year.
The truth is stamping the New Year’s Resolution label on another lofty goal is the equivalent to giving that goal an immediate death sentence.
By transforming your goal into a resolution, you’re handing it a one-way ticket to the graveyard with your New Year’s Resolutions of yesteryear (#RIP).
If your resolution is somehow still intact come March, that’s some serious overachieving: 80% of resolutions are already out the window by the second week of February.
And if you’re doing the math, that means less than half of the 20% of resolutions still barely hanging on in February will be donezo well before the year ends…
I know I’m coming off as negative (and as a total numbers nerd), but my...
‘Tis the season for New Year’s Resolutions...
Excuse me as I let out an excruciatingly long sigh.
Raise your hand if you’re sick of hearing “new year, new me.”
This annual effort to become better is bogus. It’s an excuse to wait on implementing life-changing habits and extend the holiday hangover.
So, let’s analyze the process and find out what you should do instead of creating another New Year’s Resolution.
You dropped the ball in the past, but this year is going to be different — no thanks to another New Year’s Resolution.
It’s time to make real goals, set actionable plans, and kick the crap out of the new year.

Don’t kill the messenger, but there is no single workout that can instantly transform your body.
Anyone who is telling you they can blast love handles and get you a six-pack in a quick session or 2 is spewing lies (they will literally take your money and run).
However, there are guidelines you can follow to optimize the speed of your results...
With a touch of consistency and the right routine, you can get to looking (and feeling) your best quickly as you prep to squeeze into that wedding dress, strut your stuff at a holiday party, get vacay-ready, or show off for friends, family, and coworkers.
Since time is of the essence, let’s dive in. Keep scrolling to get our expert guidelines for fast results...
Despite what the general public does, pounding away at the treadmill is not the best way to get lean (remember, you came here for expert tips)...
Your best bet is to commit to a blend of cardio and strength training...
Is insecurity creeping up as you prepare for an upcoming event? Gatherings like weddings, vacations, holiday parties, and reunions should be exciting times — not dates on the calendar you’re dreading.
We get it. You’re on a tight deadline to drop a few pounds, ditch the flab, and tone up so you can strut your stuff and radiate confidence on the big day. After all, the friends, family, and even strangers in attendance will certainly be checking you out (and of course, some will be judging).
You won’t get anywhere without cleaning up your nutrition. We know that doesn’t sound groundbreaking, but ultimately, it’s true. If you’re on a deadline to drop some pounds, kickstart the clean-up by eliminating processed carbs like chips, candy, and white bread. As delicious as they are, they don’t do your health (let alone your...
Sweater weather, football, and crisp, cool air mean one thing: Fall is here and Thanksgiving is near. So, let’s talk turkey...
Thanksgiving dinner tends to end in a food coma due to heaping helpings of seconds and thirds. And as those extra (dare we say, unnecessary) calories sap you of your energy, you end up bailing on family and friends (who, let’s be honest, you never see enough) for a nap or for the night.
This year, imagine a delicious Thanksgiving dinner complete with all of your favorite foods that leaves you feeling energetic enough to toss the pigskin, give your loved ones more of your time, and of course, help your host with clean-up (c’mon, be a gracious guest this year!).
Ditch the guilt and fatigue that comes from overindulging with these easy ingredient swaps. A little twist on the staples of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner can transform them from fattening to fantastic.
Oh, and don't’ worry, we’d never compromise on taste...
The holiday bulge, bloat, and flab are things of yesteryear. Ghosts of the past that will vanish for good this year...
Imagine finally surviving the holidays without putting on weight. You’ll no longer be part of the thousands who gain more than 10 pounds in the few shorts months between Halloween and Christmas.
And come January — for once — your new year’s resolutions won’t center around getting back in shape and undoing all the harm you did to your body during the holiday hustle.
The truth is you worked your tail off to strut your stuff this year, and holiday gatherings filled with friends, family, and strangers are the best time to dress to impress. No loose clothes, no sneaking away to eat in private, and no more avoiding pictures (or hiding in the back).
Feast your eyes on our top tips to help you survive the holiday hustle without packing on the pounds!
Imagine making it through the holidays without gaining a pound. Ok, fine. Maybe you a gain a pound or two tops. But not the 10+ you’re used to. No more post-holiday bloat, a long list of new year’s goals all about getting back in shape, and the embarrassing feeling of showing your face at the gym after a holiday hiatus.
We work hard to look good for holiday parties filled with friends, family, and strangers. After all, you want to impress the people you haven’t seen in years, and the new people you’ll be introduced to. Yet by the time January nears, we’re stuffed with cookies, cake, and candy… and the scale (as well as the pictures were tagged in) show it. Ugh… untag, immediately!
Before you assume I’m going to tell you to make the ultimate sacrifice and give up the Halloween candy and Christmas cookies (I’d never do such a thing), I have a handful of healthy tricks that will help you survive the holidays.
