Memorial Day - Celebrate Honor Remember

Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer.

That’s just the facts but what is the heart of the matter?  What did it take for us to celebrate this holiday? To name a few things it took love, heroism and sacrifice. To quote John 15:13 “There is no greater love than this that a man should lay down his life for his friends”

Platelet Rich Plasma: Is It Right For Me?

After Dr. Cilip dove deeper into what a PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatment is all about and how it can help joint pain, I knew I wanted to proceed.

But first, we needed to see if it was an appropriate procedure for me. To determine this, he uses ultrasound technology. 

Ultrasound can actually be more informative than having an MRI. See, during an MRI, your joint is static. With ultrasound, we are able to move the joint around to see if there are any tears in the tissue/tendon. If there are, you will be able to see those tears open up as you move the joint during an ultrasound, whereas those tears can be more difficult to catch during a static MRI procedure.

The Final Weigh In...

 

Here is the moment we've all been waiting for...

My final weigh in. 

Four weeks ago, I set somewhat of an ambitious goal..... ok.. it was overly ambitious.

I wanted to drop 20 lbs before I left for my trip to Punta Cana.

With the help of Dr. Michael Cilip of Ageless Integrative Medical Spa, we've come up with a great supplementation and recovery plan that has really aided in my weight loss.

I successfully pulled off a 5 pound weight loss last week, even after a birthday and St. Patty's day celebrations were thrown into the mix.
